Belle Starr

Some people are curious how we came to name our business, BELLE STARR REALTY, LLC. After all, Belle Starr was a famous, or "infamous" outlaw.

Belle Starr was born February 5, 1848, in Carthage, Missouri, to a wealthy family and was educated at the Carthage Female Academy. She was a teenager during the Civil War and became friends with Cole Younger who rode with Quantrill's Raiders. He also rode with Jesse and Frank James. It was their influence after the war that led Belle Starr astray and turned her to crime.

Two days before 41st birthday, February 5, 1889, she was shot in the back while riding from the general store to reach her ranch near Euffaula, Oklahoma and her life came to a violent end. During her lifetime she was part of this aeras' colorful history.

Belle Starr

Most people know that Pineville, Missouri was the setting for the Jesse James movie filmed in 1939 with Tyrone Powers, Henry Fonda, Nancy Kelly, and Randolph Scott.

In 1973, Dee Anne Evenson, owner, broker, and her husband, Bob, purchased a 160 acre ranch near Noel, Missouri. They later discovered that a number of scenes of the movie Belle Starr, The Bandit Queen, was shot on the property. This movie filmed in 1941 starred Gene Tierney and Randolph Scott. This film romanticized the life of Belle Starr. As a result of the ranch being a part of the setting for the movie, the Evensons named the ranch, The Belle Starr Ranch.

When Dee Anne Evenson formed her real estate company she couldn't resist connecting the history and romance of the "Bandit Queen" to the new business, BELLE STARR REALTY, LLC.
